India Reaffirms Support for Two-State Solution at United Nations, Extends Humanitarian Commitment to Palestine
India has reaffirmed its support for a negotiated two-State solution at the United Nations, calling for a sovereign Palestine alongside Israel in peace and security. Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish highlighted more than 175 million US dollars in aid, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed peace, regional stability, and freedom of navigation during talks with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian.
Addressing the conference, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish said India remains committed to supporting the Palestinian people through sustained humanitarian assistance. He stated that New Delhi has provided more than 175 million US dollars in assistance to the Palestinian people over the years, reflecting India's continued commitment to humanitarian relief and development.
Highlighting the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Ambassador Harish said the situation remains fragile and stressed that India's efforts are focused on addressing the humanitarian needs and aspirations of the Palestinian people. He noted that India has dispatched 150 tonnes of humanitarian aid during the last three years alone to support relief operations in the region.
In a related diplomatic development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday. During the discussion, the Prime Minister reiterated the need for continued efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability across the West Asia region. He also emphasized the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation and international commerce.
India's statements at the United Nations and its continued humanitarian assistance underscore the country's commitment to regional peace, diplomatic engagement, and humanitarian support while advocating a peaceful and negotiated resolution to one of the world's most enduring conflicts.
